Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty. She was said to have been born of Zeus, but some stories said she was born of the foam of the sea. She was married to Hephaestus, the lame god of fire and forge;but she did not like being married to him. Aphrodite was rivals with Persephone because of Adonis, their lover. Her other most famous lover was Ares, god of war. She also gave Paris, prince of Troy, Helen, the most beautiful mortal of all as a bribe to be picked as most beautiful of all. She loved happiness and glamour.
